Course Description:
The Public Land Survey, completed mostly in the 1800’s, was performed under the method called the System of Rectangular Surveys. The extension of this system is still in progress, as are the procedures for establishing or perpetuating parts of the Rectangular System. Initial Points, Principal Meridians, Standard Parallels, Guide Meridians, Township Exteriors, Subdivision of Townships and Sections, and Closing Corners are all discussed here.
